Army Veteran, Small Business Owner, and Mother Pledges to Restore Ethics, Protect Voting Rights, and Modernize State Systems

Bargersville, IN – Today, U.S. Army veteran, small business owner, and community leader Blythe Potter officially announced her candidacy for Indiana Secretary of State in the 2026 election.
Potter, a lifelong Hoosier and former Military Police officer who served in Baghdad, said her campaign will focus on restoring integrity to the office, increasing voter turnout, and modernizing outdated systems that impact Hoosiers every day.
“Indiana ranks near the very bottom in voter participation, and our Secretary of State’s office has been plagued with corruption and scandal under Diego Morales,” Potter said. “Hoosiers deserve better. I know how to clean up a mess because I’ve done it before – as a soldier, as a business owner, as a community leader, and as a mom. I will fight to make sure every Hoosier’s voice is heard, every ballot is counted, and every small business has the tools it needs to succeed.”
Potter’s campaign will highlight her three pillars of leadership for the office:
Protecting Democracy & Boosting Voter Turnout – Partnering with county clerks to create voter handbooks, end last-minute voter purges, and pilot programs to increase turnout statewide.
Modernizing State Services – Streamlining business filings and licensing through a “one-stop-shop” portal for entrepreneurs and families.
Restoring Ethics & Accountability – Ending no-bid contracts, banning nepotism in hiring, and prohibiting taxpayer-funded luxury travel.
In addition to her military service, Potter owns Bargersville Wellness. She earned her MBA in Conscious Capitalism and serves as a Precinct Committee member in Johnson County. She lives in Bargersville with her husband, Michael, and their young daughter.
“This race isn’t about partisanship – it’s about leadership, accountability, and making government work for people again,” Potter said. “I’m running to ensure Hoosiers can trust their Secretary of State and have confidence that their voices matter in our democracy.”
Potter is launching a grassroots campaign to engage voters in all 92 counties, with a focus on connecting directly with delegates ahead of the 2026 Democratic Party convention.
